These framed works employ collage and machine embroidery. Some represent plants and hedgerows in the Berkshire countryside, others found objects from by the North Yorkshire coast. They carry an underlying message about fragile ecologies made vulnerable by man's or nature's intervention.

Others are formed from litter picked from the pavements and parks in West Berkshire and then collaged and machine embroidered. These work as a turnabout, as human refuse is metamorphosed into a magical set of illustrations for one of childhood's favourite poems.

At the present time I have been working on a series of embroideries inspired by the apple tree in my New Forest garden. I am making studies of the bark, the blossom and fruit and the visiting birdlife.

Also I have been working on a series of textiles of oak trees that grow in the New Forest. These textiles are allegorical story telling trees that illustrate strange woodland creatures and also tell of the end of a curse and the ultimate restoration of good!
